Abstract

This dataset shows the surficial geology of the Annapolis Valley area. The aquifer extends in five watersheds: Annapolis, Cornwallis, Canard, Habitant and Pereau. The Quaternary sediments in the study area consist mostly of tills, ice-contact glaciofluvial sands and gravels, and glaciomarine and/or glaciolacustrine clays of variable thickness.

Introduction
General process description
Process step Sources
The dataset was extracted from the file surfGeol.shp of the Annapolis project archives folder. The attribute table was modified to add or remove fields. Data regarding units names were found in the Hydrogeological Atlas of the Annapolis Valley produced by the Geological Survey of Canada. Surfical geology unit were reclassified according to Geological Survey of Canada standard surficial geology legend (http://dx.doi.org/10.4095/290144) when it was possible - with the understanding that some units might not perfectly match in the new classification. The original classification is kept in the dataset.
