Abstract

This georeferenced image shows the hydrogeological settings (unconfined or semiconfined conditions and confined conditions) of the Mirabel aquifer. The study area located northwest of Montreal, includes four regional county municipalities: Argenteuil, Deux-Montagnes, Mirabel and Therese-De-Blainville. The confining unit that is observed throughout the region is composed of Champlain Sea silt and clay. This unit is very widespread. According to the recent 3D model of Quaternary sediments, 65% of the aquifer system is confined, approximately 31% is semiconfined, and only 4% is unconfined.
