Identification

Abstract

This dataset shows the areas of high and preferential recharge as well as areas of resurgence of the south-western Mauricie aquifer. The study area covers the 17 municipalities of the Maskinongé MRC, Trois-Rivieres and Shawinigan cities and the Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel municipality. The recharge rates were calculated using the hydraulic budget method. The high (250 - 400 mm/y) and preferential (plus de 400 mm/y) recharge rate areas are located in where the relief is raised and the surface is mainly composed of sand. Conversely, the resurgence areas are located in margin of the high recharge deposits.

The dataset comes from the Recharge_250mm, Recharge_400mm and Zone_Resurgence files of the MAUR_UQTR.shp geodatabase. The field (GRIDCODE) was added to all attribute tables of the file and the following values were attributed. 1: Recharge_250mm 2: Recharge_400mm 3: Zone_Resurgence The three polygonal datasets were merged using the Union ArcGIS tool and then converted to a raster by using the raster tool. The cell length was set to 25 m to maintain a good precision.
