Identification

Abstract

This dataset presents the estimated aquifer vulnerability to surface contamination of the south-central area of the Maritimes Carboniferous Basin. The study area extends from 65°30' à 63°30'. Key elements of DRASTIC index for this study area are the aquifer recharge rates and the hydraulic conductivity of the till layer. The combination of three categories for the till layer and two for recharge rates (good if R>60 mm/y or poor if R<60 mm/y) provided three levels of aquifer vulnerability: low, moderate and high.

The dataset comes from the file geol_vuln.shp of the MGWI project archives folder. The file was converted to a raster by attributing the values of the field champ VULN to the pixels. Pixels values represent the vulnerability values: 1 : Low; 2 : Moderate; 3 : High.
