Abstract

The Milk River aquifer is located in southern Alberta, between Lethbridge and Medicine Hat. The south boundary of the aquifer is located in the Montana. The regional aquifer system of Milk River exhibits a succession of aquifers-aquitards. It includes two aquifers (Belly River and Milk River) separated by aquitards. However, leakage in the aquitards allows connections between the aquifers. Milk River is exploited for domestic, agricultural and industrial/commercial uses. The current use of groundwater generates a problem of water level decline. This threat and the groundwater flow system, from recharge to discharge, represent the main information of the dataset. This latter also exhibits information on aquifer media, confinement, surficial aquifer thickness, bedrock hydraulic conductivity, hydrogeological units yields and groundwater quality. The dataset is a summary of data and hydrogeological information for all aquifers, aquifer systems and hydrogeological contexts of the Milk River project.
